THE BLACKWATER HISTORY
Est. June 2025. Documenting the slow miles, the wet camps, and the moments that remain.
THE ORIGIN: WHY WE FILM
I didn’t start Blackwater Outdoor Journeys to chase an algorithm. I started it to stop time.”
In June 2025, I launched this channel with a single camera and a specific purpose. After losing one of my sons a few years ago, I realized how many of our adventures had faded into memory, unrecorded. I swore that wouldn't happen again.
What began as a way to archive life for my wife Tina, my children and grand children, and myself has evolved into a global archive for the outdoor community. This is my way of ensuring that when I am gone, the lessons, the laughter, and the view from the bow of the canoe remain.
THE MISSION: THE TRINITY OF THE SOUTH
We paddle the blackwater veins where I grew up, focusing on the three great waterways of the region: The Okefenokee Swamp, the Suwannee River, and the St. Marys.
We provide the "field notes" you need to navigate these remote waters, endure wet camps, and handle the small fixes that keep a hard day from turning into a bad one.
For those who cannot get out there due to health, age, or distance, these films are your window. We bring the river to you—uncut, unhurried, and real.
THE CODE: EARNED CAMPS ONLY
You will not find studio sets or "unboxing" videos here. We believe in:
Real Conditions: If it’s raining on the St. Marys, we film it. If the gear fails in the Swamp, we show it.
Practical Systems: My style is plain. What happened, What I noticed, What I changed. Done.
Earned Comfort: A warm meal tastes better after 10 miles of headwinds. We document the work, not just the sunset.
