Help Keep the Canoe on the Water

Every trip is self-funded — permits, fuel, repairs, and the gear it takes to document these rivers honestly. Your support keeps the films coming and the archive growing.

Where It Goes

~$1,200 to plan, film, and produce one video

That's the real number, straight off last year's taxes — and it's before 20 hours of my own editing time on top. No sponsor money funds these trips — support here covers what it actually takes to get the canoe onto blackwater and a finished film out the other side.

Fuel & Supplies

~$350 per trip, before anything else

$40–$65 in gas alone — 150–250 miles round trip at 15 MPG, $4/gallon — plus food and river supplies on top. Before permits, gear, or a single hour of editing.

Permits & Access

$15/person, per night

Okefenokee Wilderness camping permits run $15 per person per night plus a $10 reservation fee — straight off the refuge's own fee schedule. Gear repairs and replacement come on top of that, unbudgeted.

Time & Tools

~20 hours to cut one film

That's on top of the $1,200 above, not counted in it — my time editing, unpaid, plus the monthly cost of the editing and research tools that make the footage watchable.
